Real Butter at a price, maybe not as much as I thought:

UPDATE:
I have been contacted by Linda Thompson at the ArcLight Hollywood and she tells me I have been a bit mistaken. Their tickets are not $15 they are $14 dollars and only at peek times on the weekends. The rest of the time it's $11. $10 if you are a member.and going to see a member movie.

For the sake of fairness, I will post her e-mail, with her permission:

Hey, Head Honcho.

I schedule the programming here at ArcLight.  Our tickets are $14, not $15 and only at prime time on the weekend.  The rest of the time it's $11, $10 if you are a member and going to see a member movie, less than that if you are a member and want to convert points to a 2 for 1 or a free ticket.  When you think about it, it's less than the Grove (with parking) and you get reel butter!

I would like to add that another one of the things that makes ArcLight special is that we do not have advertising like the Grove and this makes our ticket prices a bit higher.

So there you have it. I always want to know the information I place on this site is as accurate as possible. I would also like you all to know, I didn't get any free tickets or passes from AcrLight Hollywood to post this update. Though I have to say, I wouldn't turn tickets down, I'm on a limited budget over here.

Below is the original artical.

  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When will I be able to get Real Butter at my local theater, right now as a matter of fact. This is something that I have been bitching about for some time now, it was also the inspiration for this web site, kind of. About a week ago, I went to the ArcLight theater here in Hollywood and what do you know, real butter is available on request. I couldn't believe it, now this is a step in the right direction. I got my popcorn with real butter. It didn't cost me any extra for the butter and at 15 bucks a ticket (See above update) I would hope not. That is right folks, $15 a ticket.

First off, I want you to know, I got in for free the two times I want to the ArcLight. That was courtesy of a friend of mine who is in the DGA. See I am not really ready to pay $15 per ticket to see a movie, not just yet anyway. Let me tell you a little bit about the ArcLight.

So the first thing is, you pick where you want to sit. All the seats are numbered and most of the time you have an usher take you to your assigned seat. Now, this is not really a bad thing but it has cause me a bit of annoyance. The first time we went, there were 3 people in the whole theater. When we asked the usher (jokingly) if we could move to different seats, he hemmed and hawed and said he thought it would be better if we stayed in our seats, in case someone else had tickets for the seats we swiped. 3 people in the whole place and this was the reply we got. Alright, the show moves on and said usher give you a little run down on the movie you are about to watch, like I need this. I know the movie I am about to see, I am here aren't I? Then he tells us he will stick around to make sure that both the picture and sound are working correct incase anything needs to be adjusted. This is a good thing, a very good thing. Nothing is worse than having to get up and tell someone the sound is bad or the focus is off. Then you have ads (which I hate and I am sure most do), previews and then the movie. Not bad and with the prices as high as they are, you don't see many kids, which is a good thing if you are a real movie buff and want to see it in peace. So for the good and the bad, at least they are trying something new. With a few minor adjustments, this could be a really great place to watch a movie. Is it worth $15 a ticket to go to the ArcLight? Well it depends who you are. For me, I would have to say no, at least for now.
